AFRICAN VOICES FORUM LTD POSITION STATEMENT
The African Voices Forum Ltd and its membership, base in Bristol, South West Of England, Are Standing Together As An Organisation To Say Black Lives Matter.
The Killing Of George Floyd and Subsequent Shocking events in The United States have caused outrage, anger and distress around the World, bringing into sharp focus the inequalities that continues to blight society. African Voices Forum and its Membership stand together as a Community Organisation with all Black People in condemning Racism against the Black Community, and in support of Black Lives Matter. Tackling inequality is at the heart of what we do, and we will continue to work to address disadvantage and prejudice in all its forms. However, we know there is still much more we need to do to address the divisions and injustice in all areas of our society, including our local communities, work places, schools and colleges, that Black Lives Matter demands of us. We have heard the rallying call from all over the World, be it Local, National or International community and we will take action.
The Great Civil Right Activist, Dr Martin Luther King said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. This cannot be achieved unless the African Voices Forum and its Membership Voices are loud and stand firmly at the heart of decision making, be it local Government, Work Places, Schools and Colleges, and that we challenge ourselves to think and act differently. We need to see Equality, Diversity and Inclusion reflected at all levels of our local and National Communities, Work Places, Schools and Colleges. We want to once more reaffirm our commitment and support for all our membership and Black People in our various community.
We would encourage anyone experiencing any form of racial harassment to seek advice through African Voices Forum to one of our partners, SARI, who can provide guidance and support. I thank you all.
